I decided to use a photo of me with my sister and sister-in-law from my sisters birthday party. This was at the end of the night and I was exhausted but had enough energy for one last photo. Sisters are funny in the way that most of the time, they drive you insane but you gotta love them!
With the scraps, I made a card you can give to your sister or someone just like a sister to you. I thought the card came out really cute and I may just give it one of my girlfriends to make their day. I’m actually more proud of the fact that I threw my scraps away after this project…..score: Me 1….Hoarding 0. LOL! I got the idea of making cards from the scraps of my scrapbook pages from iclassygirl.com (Tiare). Check out here Typical Tiare cards….nice!

National Scrapbooking Month is almost over!!!
Sooooo, I know I’m late but I’m wondering what you guys did for National scrapbooking day??? Me…..well since National Scrapbooking day was right before Mother’s Day, I did Mother’s Day cards. Dummy me forgot to photograph them. That is a huge no-no for me. I always like to share what I do and I’m not even sure what happened that I forgot. So, of course I gave out the cards and no one has been willing to give them back for me to photograph so…… oh well.
Since it was also National Scrapbooking Month, we shouldn’t have stopped scrappin! Me…..this weekend, I will be doing a couple different invitations for a grad party, shower and birthday party so hopefully I’ll have some photos to share next week.
Sooooo, while I was visiting Cricut.com, I noticed they have an 5 year anniversary edition Cricut. It’s like an Cricut Expression but has a port for regular cricut carts and a port for Imagine cricut carts all on one machine. Wow! I’m assuming it doesn’t print the Imagine images but just cuts the graphics. The machine is on sale while supplies last. The price right now is $199.99 which is the same price for the Expression on Cricut.com. I think I want one!!! If someone has one already, please let me know how you feel about it. I am very curious to see how it performs.
Cricut.com also had some new carts that are “The Best of”. So starting with 2006, they have the “The Best of ” for every year up until 2010. I haven’t seen these in any of the stores yet and I’m not sure if they will carry them in stores or just on Cricut.com. Below, is the Best of 2010 cart with graphics. I think it’s a nice little compilation of images if you didnt buy any carts that came out last year. It may make you want to buy the whole cart that some of the graphics belong to. Haven’t purchased one yet but i’m looking
.
I also need to state again that I am no way affiliated with cricut accept that I own an Expression and a Create. The information that I supply is just to enlightened you about the things I have learned. That is all…… I hope it helps!
Until Next time……Toodles!
Flower Power Frenzy
Ok….so if you know me you know I looooove flowers with a passion. Just as much as I looooove buttons. You will see a lot of my flowers made with buttons too. I have some new flower creations that I am very proud of that I had to share. The necklaces are my take on the bib. The memory wire bracelet has flowers added that makes it a puffed cuff! You’ll notice that I also love to mix my media. I’ll have ribbons with fabrics and beads and wire all in one creation. It makes it all unique in a non discriminating way! Watch out for other materials I may incorporate next. I like to learn new techniques and designs and instead of make that new technique one creation, I may throw every technique learned in one piece! That’s so fun! So check out my new creations and tell me what you think!
I also wanted to state that this is my first WordPress post from my cell phone. Isn’t technology grand?!? Not sure if I like it better than posting from a computer but it is nice to have the option.
March is Craft Month!
Yeah I know we are really deep into the month of March and me loving crafts for a significant portion of my life, I should be ashamed of myself. In my defense, I don’t usually keep up with trends and what’s hot. I usually stumble across information looking for clearance or a good sale. I just love to craft and I do it with trendy, clearance, sale, old and out of date items! I don’t discriminate!
Anywho…..one of the main reasons for this post is I happened to stumble on some new cricut cartridges while cheacking out the clearance cartridges in A.C. Moore. The first one I noticed was Damask Decor. I so gotta have this one! It has squigglies, flowers, swirlies and that very sophisticated motif stuff. I don’t know what it’s called but I love it. Two others I saw was Elegant Edges and Luau Seasonal. Elegant Edges seemed like a lot of photo mat things or backgrounds for other cut images to stand out. Luau is sort of self-explanatory. It had palm trees, a dancing girl in a hula skirt, coconuts and so on.
So, when I got home, I decided to go on cricut.com to see what else was new. Lo and behold, on the website they have a bunch of new cartridges they have listed as coming soon. That is totally not true because I saw a couple in A.C. Moore with my own four eyes! The cricut.com website is freaking awesome. If you have a cricut Imagine, Expression, Create, or Baby Bug, you need to join this community. You can register your cutters and carts and, also, redeem your points that may have come in some of your carts. They also have so many ideas for you to try with your cutters and carts. So don’t forget to stop by there and register. (Don’t really do many endorsements but that sure as honey just sounded like one!)
The new carts are as follows:
- Pop-Up Neighborhood
- Everyday Pop-Up Cards
- Damask Decor
- Elegant Edges
- Luau Seasonal
- Father’s Day Seasonal
- Happy Graduation Seasonal
- Kate’s ABC’s
- Baby Steps
You want to know what else I saw on cricut.com! First and foremost, I learned that it is indeed “Craft Month” but the most important thing I learned was that they are having a sale on their carts this month. Most cartridges listed as reg. price $55.97-$55.99 are on sale for $39.17-39.19! Isn’t that a blessing. So if I seem uber-excited….I am. Am I going to buy? Not sure because I have a lot of the ones that are on sale already but there are a couple I don’t have. I will post if I do purchase.
Another wonderful tidbit of info that I learned is that the cricut Imagine is also on sale! Wooo-whooo! Now I will say this may not be in the budget for me right now but it is an awesome sale and I wanted to share.
I’ve looked around at other places like ebay and Oh My Crafts and they don’t have it as cheap as this. As far as the cartridges are concerned, you can always shop around for good deals. A.C. Moore and Michaels have carts right now for $44.99. A.C. Moore also have a couple older carts for $29.99. I just purchased the Once Upon a Princess cart on clearance for 29.99 from Michaels. I had been looking at this cart for a while because of my little princess at home so I was pretty happy to get it for that price.
I guess that is all for now. I hope I was able to induce a shopping apree or enable a couple of my craft hoarders! It’s o.k. Always remember, In Craft, We Trust!
Until next time…Smooches!
Sooooo, I was just playing with my titles a bit to see if I could get noticed by Freshly Picked! Yes, I too, read the articles on how to make my blog the bestest ever! Not sure if I care if it’s the bestest ever because I just want to show my family and friends and I guess the world all my crafty goodness! If you think it’s the bestest…well thank you! If not, *#$@ %*#!
But really….I couldn’t make a decision between these two LO’s (layouts) this week to enter into the ScrapNFit Technique Tuesday Challenge #48. So I’ll just enter them both! I asked my Hubby what he thought. I really thought I would get that “clueless, what do you want me to say” look but instead he actually gave me his opinion. Go figure! He suprises me daily!
So the LO I actually did first was the Hubby’s choice. I call it…”Sleeping Beauty”. Let me back track for a second. The Technique Tuesday Challenge #48 consisted of creating a LO without using any patterned paper. Doing this challenge made me realize that I have tons of patterned paper! What scrapbooker/cardmaker doesn’t! Anywho, I still thought this should be fun because you can actually make all kinds of patterns on your paper using embossing, die cuts, embellishments etc. etc.
So for “Sleeping Beauty”, I ripped up strips of kraft colored paper and laid them on a pink background page. Well, look at that! We’ve got a pattern! So then I adhered the photos of my princess “sawing wood” with pink eyelets size 1/8. The photos were framed with pearlescent vellum. The flowers were made using three different sizzix flower dies with alternating colored paper. I stitched them to the page using floss with a button in the center. I then went ballistic with flower, butterfly and round shaped rhinestones to add that glam sparkle. I would say this tends to be my “style” because I tend to overdo a page with embellies! What do you think?
The second LO I completed is actually my “style” muted. The reason I did a second page was because I wasn’t satisfied with how my title turned out on “Sleeping Beauty” The glitzy glitter glue I used was a little heavy and it made the title seem cheap. Anywho….so I decided to do a more clean, neat streamlined look with photos of my baby, Jai wrapped in her towel after a bath. I called it “Pretty in Pink” because the towel was pink (yeah…no heavy thought there). Again my background was pink paper with strips of white and a little fuschia added. For the bottom bigger photo I matted with a fuschia background and framed with pink, fuschia and white polka dot ribbon. I added a bow underneath that photo with the same ribbon. Around the photos, I embellished with vellum flower stickers and white stickles. Last but not least the vellum title Pretty in Pink was added to seal the deal. Voila!
I am leaning towards “Pretty in Pink” as my fav because it’s super clean and neat and cayute! What do you think?
I would love to hear your thoughts! Leave a comment and thanks for stopping by!
It’s Party Time!
Soooooo, my baby, Jai, will be three this month and we are giving her a birthday party! No special theme this year even though she would enjoy yet another Dora the Explorer Birthday Fiesta. We are going to have it at a place that offers games and moonbounces for the kids to play in – Tip Top Tables Inc. in Windsor Mills. My first time having something at this facility so I hope I will be pleased. As her invite, I put together a card that features a cupcake (she loves them) with a pick that has her picture. I think it turned out really cute.
The pick was made using a square punch (from Creative Memories) and just cutting skinny lines that was left in between the squares that I punched. The polka dot paper and striped paper was from a Martha Stewart Create paper pack. I knotted a sheer ribbon around the polka dot border. Of course, I used The Sweet Treats Cricut Cartridge to cut the cupcake and the number 3. “Party Time” phrase is from the Cricut cartridge Cutting Up. The Background was embossed with a Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder. Glitzy Glitter glue was used to add sprinkles to the cupcake and add influence the exclamation point.
These invites are fun and cute just like my baby, Jai! I really hope she enjoys her party!
Until next time…….Toodles!
Picture Perfect
Soooooo, I am finishing out the month of November with 4 weekly challenges completed from Scraps of Color / ScrapNFit! Yaaaay! I had never done that before and I am quite proud of myself! This also allows me to actually scrapbook and I sooo enjoy scrapbooking! In this challenge, which is Technique Tuesday #47- Ribbon, Trim and Lace, I used some photos of (you guessed it) Jai when she was 6 months. The paper used I couldn’t tell you where from because it was stash. I basically used three different patterned pages cut up and embellish with glitzy glitter glue. I trimmed the photos with lace, ribbon and some fiber adornments from EK Success. I also had lacey flower trim I picked up from the Dollar Tree that I used to embellish the page and trim a photo. I am loving the fact that I’ve been digging in the mounds and mounds of stash. I probably don’t need to go to the store for anything any time soon but you know good & dargone well I will make a trip with a coupon in a second.
I enjoyed doing this page because I love these pics of me and my baby trying to take that perfect picture. It doesn’t matter because all of them were PICTURE PERFECT! Don’t forget to leave a comment!
Thanks for stopping by! Smooches………
The Un-Smile
Sooooo, my baby, Jai Monet was entered into the 2010 NAACP Baby Contest and had to do a couple photo shoots. As anyone with kids know…they never do what you want them to do! All the posing she does for me at home….I couldnt bribe her to do it for me in front of the photographers. So what we ended up with was the Un-Smile.
In this LO, I used a black and white photo. This was the Technique Tuesday #46 Challenge on ScrapNFit! Check out the site. It is chocked full of information for weight loss, card-making and scrapbooking. This challenge made me pull out something I bought ions ago. It’s called Die Cut Overlays by Die Cuts with a View. They came 3 in a pack. So I used the blue one with some paper from a paper pack I picked up from Walmart, Martha Stewart Create.
After punching out all the squares, laying around with placement….this is what I came up with. You will notice that I love polka-dots and buttons. That’s what I used to embellish this page. Colorful, neat and spicy! I am proud of this page. I am also so very proud to use some stock from the beginning of this decade. Yay me for defeating my hoarding mentality yet again.
Until next time…..Smooches!
It’s beginning to look a lot like Blah, Blah, Blah!
Sooooo, it is that time of year again. The holidays are fast approaching. Haven’t quite gotten past Thanksgiving and all you hear about is Christmas. Don’t get me wrong…. I love the holidays. I just think it’s too commercial now and not as happy of a time as it used to be. It may have to do with being adult but who knows.
I love the holidays because of all the reasons to craft. I joined a Christmas card swap on Scraps of Color for the month of November. I actually had fun doing this swap because….awww heck! I have fun doing all the swaps! I am so “into” non-traditional so I chose purple, turquoise and silver as my colors. I actually chose those colors after I found that beautiful ribbon. I embossed the turquoise paper with swirls. Stamped and used embossing powder on the title. Cut out Christmas bulbs/balls using the sizzix and embellished with glitter glue. It’s so Christmas in a non-Christmasy way!
Thanks for stopping by! Toodles…..
